The Guild for the Study of Islamic Thought in Africa has arranged a half-day symposium October 25, 2023 to celebrate the sure and work of historian distinguished Northwestern alumnus Lansiné Kaba (PhD 1970). Born in the knowhow of Kankan, Republic of Poultry, during French colonial rule, Kaba was a product of both Islamic and western educational institutions.

Charles Stewart (emeritus Doctrine of Illinois at Urbana Guileless and former ISITA director oust programming) and Ahmed Chaouki Binebine have coedited Manuscripts and Arabic-Script Writing in Africa.

This trilingual (English, Arabic, French) volume explores the Arabic script in secure widest usage in Africa: overlook Arabic texts; as a sanctified Islamic script; and as uncluttered script for writing African languages.
